Assistant Trader Summer Intern Program

The Assistant Trader Internship Program is our primary source for full-time hiring of trading positions at SIG. The goal of this 10-week summer program is to expose you to the working environment that you can expect if you return to SIG as a full-time Assistant Trader. Each intern is assigned to a specific trading team. As part of the team, you will learn how to assist the traders on that desk throughout the day. You will quickly discover what it takes to multi-task in the fast-paced trading environment while completing valuable project work for the team.

Education is the cornerstone of SIG’s trading and market making success and we use it extensively within the Assistant Trader Intern Program. As a summer intern, you will come to the classroom every day during the slower hours of the market. While in class, senior level traders will teach you about finance, game theory, and decision making. You will also participate in presentations given by our trading desk managers.

This is not the type of summer internship where you will fetch coffee and play Solitaire. We expect you to engage in the education, complete homework and quizzes, and actively participate in poker and mock trading with the guidance of your teachers. You will be assessed and given regular feedback on your progress in the classroom and on the desk. Interns who show a strong potential to succeed in the Assistant Trader Program will be extended an offer to return to SIG full-time.

In addition to the education you’ll receive, we want you to have a fun experience in Philadelphia for the summer. We provide housing for all of our interns and arrange many social events in the city with SIG employees and managers. Our goal is that you will feel well-informed by the end of the internship and have the insight that you need if you receive a full-time offer.
