Supporting our SIG Cyclists

We know many of our employees enjoy biking around the Philadelphia area, so we recently partnered with The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia. The Coalition advocates for safe and fun bicycling and has contributed to the addition of 200+ miles of bike lanes in the area. With our partnership, SIG employees receive a discounted individual membership with perks like free group rides and discounts at local bike shops.

We announced our partnership today during Bike To Work Day. To celebrate, we met at our covered bike rack and service center to pass out reflective leg bands and energy chews to each of our SIG cyclists.

The 2016 SIG No Limit Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament

“Poker season” is an exciting time at SIG. This year’s annual SIG Tournament kicked off with over 800 players from our Bala, Dublin, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Secaucus offices competing to make it to our Final Table and take home some amazing prizes. University Poker Tournament

We recently partnered with the University Network for Investments and Trading society to host 50+ students for our inaugural university poker tournament. Students came from Sydney University, University of New South Wales, and Macquarie University to play, with the final table dealt by SIG trader and WSOP champ, Jay Sipelstein. Our winner took home a custom poker set, and our top 3 finalists are headed to Australia vs. England Rugby Union match at Allianz Stadium.

UCP Life Without Limits 5K Run/Walk

Team SIG came out in full force to support the Life Without Limits 5K, benefitting United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia. After the race, we celebrated at an After Party on The Oval, complete with craft beer from Victory Beer and food from the city's top food trucks, The Cow and the Curd, Taco Mondo, and Undrgrnd Donuts. Despite this year’s rainy conditions, we enjoyed a great night out competing with local companies at Philly’s only weeknight race.

SIG + Drexel Cybersecurity Institute Partnership

We’re excited to announce that SIG has partnered with Drexel University’s Cybersecurity Institute! Through our partnership, our Security team members (including many Drexel alumni) will mentor students that are interested in learning about the security field and help them participate in various security competitions. Tonight, we spoke at an info session where nearly 70 students attended to learn what it’s like to compete at these events. We’re eager to start working with the students and helping them pursue their passion for security!

An Evening at the Rugby Game

We recently spent the evening at Aviva Stadium to watch Leinster take on Munster in a crucial Guinness PRO12 game. Before the match, we enjoyed delicious finger foods and Guinness in the Havelock Suite. After kick-off, we cheered for our favorite team in quite a close match. It was a great night out for all!

CodeLM Programming Competition

Today, five SIG developers visited Lower Merion High School to mentor 24 teams from 9 area schools during the CodeLM Programming Competition. Our technologists also served as judges for the competition, where students were tasked with solving a variety of programming problems in 2.5 hours. Our prizes for the winning teams included Arduino and Makey Makey kits. Congrats to all of the students!

Holiday Celebrations Around the Globe

Holiday party season was in full swing this year with parties at each of our SIG offices. In Sydney, we went with a 70s theme and some fun photo ops. We dressed to impress in Dublin while we sipped on unique craft cocktails. In NY and Chicago, we enjoyed games and lots of laughs. And in Bala, we were treated to our amazing annual sushi bar and even a little breakdancing. Wishing a very happy holiday season to our SIG team around the globe!

Giving Back the SIG Way

The holidays are a great time around the SIG offices as we support our employees in contributing to their favorite charitable drives. This year, our employees donated hundreds of toys to Toys for Tots, the Saint Vincent de Paul Christmas Toy Appeal, The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, and The Smith Family Toy and Book Appeal. In Bala, we also sponsored 20 local families in need as part of Bryn Mawr Hospital’s Adopt-A-Family program, fulfilling basic needs and holiday wishes. Supporting these worthwhile organizations definitely put us in the holiday spirit!
