Welcoming our SIG Kids to Work!

We were happy to welcome 80 SIG kids to Take Your Child to Work Day! Since chess and strategic thinking align with our culture, we brought in the Shining Knights Chess Company to teach beginner and advanced chess lessons. Parents joined their kids for a lunch of pizza and Insomnia Cookies. Congrats to all of our budding chess players!

Holidays at SIG

Our holiday gatherings are a great way for us to celebrate the season and thank our employees for another successful year! In Sydney, we spent the night at the Steel Bar & Grill in the CBD and enjoyed delicious canapes (including gold dusted macarons!), a DJ and dancing, and a fun photo booth. In Chicago, our office holiday outing took place at SPiN Chicago, an 18,000 sq. foot "ping pong social club" in River North. In New York, we returned to Pier A, a designated New York City landmark with great views. Our Bala Holiday Party took place at the Crystal Tea Room, where we enjoyed arcade games, dancing, and special treats like a Krispy Kreme donut wall and late-night cheesesteaks. And in Dublin, as our final celebration of SIG's 30th anniversary, our party threw it back to 1987. We treated our employees to a night of glitzy 80s fun, complete with everyone's favourite retro arcade games.

Giving Back Around the World

Around the holiday season, our employees make an impact in their local communities through charitable organizations. Our Dublin office supported the SVP - Society of St. Vincent de Paul Ireland Giving Tree to help families in need. In Sydney, our employees provided personalized gifts for local children, ages 2-18, through The Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal. Our Chicago office spread holiday cheer with their participation in The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program, sponsoring 100 Angel Tree gift tags to surprise local Chicago children on Christmas morning. Our New York office dished out love to their fellow New Yorkers with contributions to City Harvest, the city's largest food drive. And in Bala Cynwyd, our office participated in Bryn Mawr Hospital's Adopt A Family Program, "adopting" 17 local families in need, fulfilling some of their basic needs (like laundry supplies and grocery gift cards) and gifting some holiday wishes (like sneakers, toys, bikes, and even a desk!).

Got Bitcoin?

We are proud to announce our Platinum Level Sponsorship of Women in Investing Network of Philadelphia (WIN). WIN is a professional organization that provides a forum for networking and professional development for women involved in investing. At our first WIN event, we welcomed over 100 guests and SIG employees for a catered reception and some networking, followed by talks on blockchain and cryptocurrency. Our own Stacey Gilbert shared her knowledge of how blockchain technology can be applied to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. It was a great night out with many women (and men!) in Philadelphia's finance community.

How We Roll

Our annual Under vs. Over 30 SIG Soccer Match took place last weekend and brought out the usual competitive energy (along with, of course, lots of laughter). The Unders came out with a win, with a final score of 5-3. Way to go to all of our SIG players!

Teaming Up for a Cause

It’s always fun to participate as Team SIG at Sydney’s annual J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge®. This year’s race was the largest Sydney event in its history, with 8,804 entrants from 391 companies competing in Centennial Park. Proceeds from the race benefit Rob de Castella’s Indigenous Marathon Foundation, a health promotion charity that uses running to celebrate Indigenous resilience and achievement and create inspirational Indigenous leaders.

A First in our New Office

We recently held our SIG Australia All Hands meeting, followed by our annual bowling tournament at STRIKE King Street Wharf. Coming together as an office for the first time in our beautiful new space at Barangaroo truly added a new layer of energy to this quarterly update! At bowling, competition was fierce amongst our six teams who took on the tournament; with each team battling it out, then breaking into an individual game, where only one bowler could be crowned victorious. A great night out full of laughs, bowling nicknames and good old fashioned team spirit!

Running Not Just For Fun, But For Homes

Team SIG and our family members (even some of the four-legged variety!) were proud to support the 34th annual Dublin Simon Home Run in the Phoenix Park. The sea of SIG blue could be seen sweeping throughout the 5 mile run as our runners, walkers, and buggy runners made their way to the finish line. Congratulations to all the participants who helped raise much-needed funds to combat homelessness in Dublin.
