Happy Riding!

Since many of our employees bike to work, we wanted to make storing and servicing their bikes more convenient for them. Our newest employee perk is a covered bike rack and self-service repair station. Plus, to celebrate National Bike to Work Day, we passed out Naked Juice to all of our riders.

SIG Magic Tournament

Last weekend, we invited 30 local high school students to join us at SIG for a Magic Tournament. In Magic, you have to make decisions under uncertainty, observe your opponents’ actions, and strategize to maximize your expectation of winning – just like our traders operate in the financial markets. Many of our traders are Magic players, and the students had the opportunity to play against them for bounty prizes. It was an exciting day for us all!

2015 Life Without Limits 5k Run/Walk

2015 Life Without Limits 5k Run/Walk

Last week, Team SIG met on the Parkway for the UCP Life Without Limits 5k. We enjoyed spending time outside with the beautiful Philly skyline as our backdrop. To top it off, the overall race winner was one of our employees! After the run, everyone headed over to two popular restaurants for the after party. Thanks to everyone who came out to support a great cause!

Happy (Early) Pi Day!

Happy (Early) Pi Day!

We celebrated an early Pi Day at the office today. Did you know calculating the digits of p has proved to be a benchmark for advancements in computing algorithms, hardware, and software? As of 2013, we know at least the first 12 trillion digits of p, and tomorrow you too can celebrate 3.14.15 at 9:26:53 for a once in a lifetime Pi Day!

It’s Poker Season

It’s Poker Season

At SIG, February means poker. In anticipation of our annual employee poker tournament, we kicked off the month with No Limit Hold ‘Em Classes. The classes taught poker beginners and gave skilled players a little more practice. Curious to see how our players are faring in the tournament? Experience the action with us as we follow five of our players through the tournament. Good luck to all of our participants!

Philly’s Having a Moment Right Now

Philly’s Having a Moment Right Now

We’re proud to see Philadelphia, the city we call home, finally get the attention it deserves. In addition to its position at the top of The New York Times’ 52 Places to Go in 2015 list, we can’t forget the great outdoor spaces and fantastic restaurant scene. Interested in seeing more of what Philly has to offer? Check out our open positions.

Celebrating a Great Year

We celebrated the season with festive parties in each of our offices. In Bala, we enjoyed gourmet food stations with items like truffled french fries, sushi, and make your own milkshakes. In Dublin, we dressed up and grabbed props for a photo booth. We played poker in Chicago, listened to jazz in New York, and had a great dinner in San Francisco. Thanks to all of our employees for getting in the holiday spirit with us!

Showing our Holiday Spirit

In the spirit of the holiday season, we celebrated by giving back. Employees teamed up to fulfill holiday “wish lists” for the Bryn Mawr Hospital’s Adopt-A-Family program, donate toys to the Saint Vincent De Paul Holiday Appeal and The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program, and to purchase 50+ bikes and helmets for local children in need through Toys for Tots.

We’re in!

Our employees have unpacked their boxes and officially moved in to our new Dublin office building. We've been enjoying using our brand new gym, larger kitchens, fully stocked library, and taking in the great views of our city. We can’t wait to continue to grow our team in our new space.

SIG on Campus

We've had a busy few months visiting schools across the country. We kicked things off with talks from one of our founders, Jeff Yass, at the Harvard and Penn Algorithmic Research Clubs. Next, we were off to the biannual Harvard-MIT Mathematics Tournament, hosting a mini-event called “The Mathematics of Poker and Games” for the students. The event featured an estimation game, a talk by World Series of Poker bracelet winner Bill Chen, and prizes. Speaking of prizes, the first winner of our $5,000 Half Court Shot Contest scored big at the Brown men's basketball home opener and students from different schools participated in our MindSumo coding challenge, where they took home prizes of up to $150 for their applications. We enjoyed meeting students on campus and wish them the best of luck on finals!
