Meet our Data Center Team

What is your team responsible for?

Our team maintains and manages our two onsite data centers of over 6,000 devices, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. We also provide support and monitoring for all of our remote sites. We upgrade our technology infrastructure often, so we work closely with SIG’s technology teams to assure we are meeting their needs and requirements as we build and deploy new servers across our data centers. We also work on projects to deliver technology infrastructure beyond the data center.

What makes your team unique?

Our team always has someone in the building to support SIG’s production environment, so we cover three different shifts.

1st Shift: We start around 7 a.m. and manage our environment during the production day. We focus on server builds and preparing changes that the other shifts will implement later in the day and evening. Not every team member is in the office at the same time, so we use ticketing systems and multiple dashboards to help us track everything that has happened in-between shifts. Around 9 a.m., the 3rd shift leaves, so they turnover any outstanding issues from the night before to our shift.

2nd Shift: We start around 12:30 p.m. We begin preparing for changes that we will implement after the financial markets close. Our day-to-day could involve data center planning projects, installing cables, server builds, and hardware support. During the afternoon shift change, the 1st shift will turnover any remaining issues, priority changes, and projects to our shift.

3rd Shift: We start around 10 p.m. We continue to monitor our production environment along with overnight critical processes. If there are any issues, we are charged with troubleshooting and resolving them. We make sure our environment is ready to go by the time the financial markets open the following morning.

What are some of your team’s favorite SIG perks?

The company events, especially the Phillies game and SIG Family Fun Night.
