Meet a Windows Systems Engineer

Walk us through a typical day in your life.

A typical day usually starts with me hitting SIG’s gym followed by a trip to the cafeteria for coffee to start the day. In the morning, we review any issues that may have occurred overnight and prep for the market to open. Most of the rest of the day is filled with projects, such as developing new configuration management tools and collaborating with other teams on work that needs to happen in the future or directly following the market close.

What is unique about your current role?

I work directly on trading servers on almost a daily basis. It’s very exciting to be involved in managing the core systems that allow SIG to compete in the market. It’s amazing to see an idea that blossomed in a meeting a few days ago be implemented and production ready within the same week.

What do you like most about SIG technology?

I love the fact that we get to work on cutting-edge hardware. Whether it’s in production, or testing in our well maintained lab environment, I constantly find myself working with new and exciting hardware. No matter what aspect of technology you’re interested in, there is a very good chance you will get to work with it at SIG.

In your opinion, what is the best perk we offer?

I think the best perk at SIG is the onsite gym and fitness classes. It makes it very easy to work out before or after work. I’ve done the TRX workout class led by the personal trainer onsite - it’s really intense.
