Risk takers, challenge seekers, and trail blazers… we’re sharing the motivating stories of a few of our women leaders.
"Take the risk. Step forward. Have confidence to reach outside your comfort zone. You never know what amazing opportunities are waiting for you."
Read Gina’s story"You can't expect to be an expert in anything when you first try it, so give yourself the time to learn a new craft, settle into a new job, and discover what it is that you are good at and enjoy."
Read Fiona’s story"I always encourage grad students to look outside the box and keep an open mind about their career direction. Every one of us is different, so it's important not to limit your dreams to the paths of those who have gone before you."
Read Helen’s story"Early in my career, I had to learn to let go for the fear of being wrong and focus instead on making well supported trading recommendations. Perfection is an impossibility, so accepting things won't always go your way is key to success."
Read Jen's story"The way I see it, you take risks in life all the time. Just like I learned growing up, we teach our employees to choose the outcomes that have positive expectancy. For me, I never wanted to look back and ask, “what if?”"
Read Tanya’s story"At SIG, you should always be looking for new things to learn and ways to make an impact in your role. As Head of Operations, I still feel like I am learning every day. Don't put limits on yourself. You never know where your expertise may take you."
Read Kathy’s storyBuilding a community of women is important to us. To give students the opportunity to picture their career in technology and finance, we sponsor organizations, like Women in Computer Science, Society of Women Engineers, Women in Computing, Women in Business, and Girls in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, on campuses around the globe.
We host an annual US Women’s Discovery Day with the goal of connecting students to women at SIG, all while gaining insight into working here. We host and participate in events like GirlsHack, a high school coding competition, WECode (Women Engineers Code), the largest US student-run conference for women in computer science, and general women’s networking Q+A events.
When we are back in person again, we bring women together at our office, with gatherings like happy hours and networking dinners, our SIG Dublin Women's Network, and hosting events like the Women in Investing Network of Philadelphia (WIN). And we host both on-site and virtual Tech Camps for children of our employees to inspire the next generation of women in STEM!
